Litter and Puppy Guarantee

We breed at most one or two litters per year.  Matings are carefully planned to ensure healthy, structurally sound, emotionally stable puppies.  All puppies are whelped in our house and live in the house until they are about 4 weeks old.  They are then moved to a bigger area in our basement or out in the kennel, depending on the weather.  Pups are socialized regularly with adults and children.  Each pup is given quality one-on-one attention EVERY day!  They are exposed to bird feathers/wings from about 3-4 weeks on.

After much consideration, we no longer have dewclaws removed from our newborn puppies. They will be wormed 1-2 times and have their first shots before they are sent home with their new families.  All Red Birch pet puppies are sold with an AKC Limited Registration*.  A written guarantee also accompanies each puppy warranting against hereditary problems such as hip dysplasia, PRCD (the most common form of the blindness causing disease PRA), and congenital heart problems.

An interview plus at least one visit to our home to meet me and the puppies will help
us select your potential pet prospects.   Prospective puppy buyers are questioned regarding their ability to provide a good home for their Red Birch puppy.  A fenced yard is strongly recommended as is having someone home regularly for the first several weeks that the puppy is in its new home.  A Red Birch puppy should be a house dog and family member,  not a 'backyard' dog!  Families with very young children (under the age of 4) and/or expecting a baby are discouraged from getting a puppy until a later time.

* An AKC Limited Registration allows the dog to participate in all AKC performance events, but NOT in conformation.  Any puppies produced by a dog on a Limited Registration are NOT registrable with the American Kennel Club.
